Where does Winter the Dolphin Live?

If you love sea animals, less than 2 miles away from the beach is the:

  • Clearwater Aquarium. Winter the Dolphin’s home! This amazing facility offers General Admission for $24.95 or less and also features a Behind the Scenes tour, a Dolphin Adventure Boat Tour and a Sea Life Safari Boat Tour. You’ll want to visit the world famous “Winter”, a beautiful and renowned bottlenose dolphin who lost her tail when it got caught in a crab trap. She was rescued in the Coastal waters of Florida in December 2005, and her injury caused her body to move unnaturally side-to-side instead of up and down. Thankfully, a team of experts was able to fit her with a prosthetic tail so she could swim naturally again, and in 2011 the movie Dolphin tale was released about her. She would love for you to come visit! The aquarium is open everyday except for Christmas and Thanksgiving.

  • Clearwater is also known for its fresh selection of Gulf Coast Seafood and its local favorite the Grouper Sandwich. Its cuisines range from four-diamond fine dining sit-downs to casual comfort food.
